Location Remote within Latin America

Schedule Full-time; 09:00-17:00 US Eastern Time

Employer Meridian Bridge Technology (fictional)

The role

Support a US-based infrastructure team that runs corporate and cloud networks for distributed offices. You will own network changes, troubleshoot service interruptions and improve the reliability and security of connectivity between users, sites and AWS workloads. You will report to the Infrastructure Manager and work with security, cloud and service desk teams.

What you will do

  • Configure and maintain Cisco or Aruba switching and routing, including VLANs, trunks, spanning tree, OSPF and BGP.
  • Operate Palo Alto or Fortinet firewalls, site-to-site IPsec VPNs and remote-access VPNs. Review policy changes with the security team.
  • Troubleshoot packet loss, latency, routing asymmetry and DNS or DHCP issues using packet captures, logs and monitoring data.
  • Connect on-premises networks to AWS VPCs through VPNs; maintain route tables, security groups and network access controls.
  • Plan upgrades and migrations with impact assessments, peer review, validation steps and rollback procedures.
  • Keep network diagrams, IP address records and runbooks current. Automate repeatable checks with Python or Ansible.

Required experience

  • At least 5 years in network engineering or network operations, including ownership of production changes and incident response.
  • Hands-on TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, switching, NAT, VPN and firewall troubleshooting in enterprise environments.
  • Production experience with Cisco or Aruba and at least one enterprise firewall platform: Palo Alto or Fortinet.
  • Practical AWS networking experience and working knowledge of Linux, Git and scripting for operational tasks.
  • English at B2 level or above: lead a troubleshooting call, explain risk and write a clear incident summary.

How the team works

Operations, expectations and selection

Preferred experience

  • CCNP Enterprise or equivalent practical expertise; relevant firewall or cloud networking certification.
  • Experience with SD-WAN, redundant WAN links, BGP failover and multi-site network design.
  • Use of monitoring and inventory tools such as Zabbix, PRTG, SolarWinds or NetBox.
  • Ansible configuration backups, Python validation scripts and Git-based review of network changes.
  • Exposure to AWS Transit Gateway, Direct Connect or infrastructure as code.

Remote and nearshore expectations

You must be based in Latin America and available for the full 09:00-17:00 US Eastern Time schedule, including seasonal clock changes. You need reliable connectivity, a backup internet option and a private workspace for customer calls. The role includes a shared on-call rotation and occasional scheduled maintenance outside core hours; the team will agree on rotation and compensation before engagement.

First 90 days

Days 1-30: learn and document

  • Review topology, access, monitoring and incident history. Shadow the on-call engineer and document critical network dependencies.

Days 31-60: own routine operations

  • Handle standard changes and incidents with peer review. Update runbooks and identify recurring alerts or configuration risks.

Days 61-90: deliver an improvement

  • Complete one agreed reliability or automation project, demonstrate recovery or rollback and hand over the operating documentation.

Engagement and compensation

This sample assumes a full-time engagement. Employment or contractor structure, pay range, currency, equipment, leave and benefits depend on the hiring country and will be specified before an offer. This illustrative description does not represent an active opening or an offer of employment.

Selection process

  • Recruiter conversation covering location, schedule, English and relevant experience.
  • Technical interview with a routing, VPN and firewall troubleshooting exercise.
  • Discussion of a past production change, incident response and communication.
  • Final conversation on team fit and engagement terms.

Application materials

Provide an English resume, your country and time zone, availability and one short example of a network incident or migration you owned. Do not include confidential customer configurations or credentials.
